Seems to be back on track now.

A large part is forums in general are going the way of the dodo. (except for the mega-forums like Reddit, whirlpool etc)

Kids these days just don't sit on a computer and read forums, when you can casually sit on the couch with a phone or tablet and casually "snack" on social media, throw in the odd comment of a single sentence, and Robert's you mothers brother.

Quite a lot of very active forums on a diverse array of subjects I've been a member of for as long as 20 years in once case (when the f*** did I get old?) have pretty much gone from thriving in 2015/16 to life support or dead now.

The times are a changin'...

Talking of forums going the way of the Dodo, I recall years ago there was a military forum which I think was called Aussie Diggers or similar, the website logo was a kangaroo wearing a slouch hat.

It was owned by a bloke from WA who ran a medal mounting business etc.

Does anyone remember it and did it go 'the way of the Dodo'?

I'm trying to remember, but IIRC the owner was too busy to keep it going, it too had dwindling numbers and high cost of running it.

I tried to take it over, upgrade the forum software and keep it running but I ran into the same problem with full time work and it was abandoned. I also had issues doing the upgrades. The decision was made that if people wanted to continue, then they could come over onto this site.

I still have the contents of the site on a backup hard drive somewhere under the house.

AussieArmy was started by one of the kids from here. Diggerz is the one that Michael Wass from Heritage Medals ran. That crew has migrated to Facebook. They have a page, but mostly interact on each other's feeds.

Such a shame, I got all my info here and all the insider news I wouldn't of gotten anywhere else. You guys have been invaluable and I'm glad to say I found this forum a while back, sorry for being mostly a lurker. Speaking of insider news, what's this story about the yanks flogging ol' skippy from 2 RAR on TS?
