I notice that within the list of Registered Users Online there are zBing[Bot], zGoogle[Bot], zMSN[Bot] and zYahoo[Bot] identities.

Are these the identities of Webcrawlers that harvest the contents of a website/forum for publication on their Search Engines for all to see?

Yes.
Although as long as it's not ZeeGermans, I think we'll be ok.

Site admin will correct me if I've got the wrong end of the stick, but if search engines didn't do that, there wouldn't be search engines, then someone searching for say "Rifleman, postings, IETs" wouldn't end up here and the site would consist of me periodically looking to see if anyone wanted to be a member of my site and coming up with the same answer every time, no.
This site has had 61 people sign up since the start of the month, aussiearmy.com has had 7 people sign up. Since aussiearmy crashed last year and we lost the 50-100 regular posters, the crawlers haven't had much of anything to add to their engines, we don't get as many hits, we don't get many sign ups and the site is really struggling to offer anything more than 12 month old experiences.

Correct.

The Site Admin can also allow or disallow these bots, but disallowing them would be counter productive....

A (ro)bot is a piece of software that 'browses' the internet like you or me. It follows links, 'looks' at pages and pulls out key words. This is then used by search engines to get a feel of what the website is about, so when you search for those key words, they can retrieve this page.

Friendship is not the word;

The soul of a nation stirred.

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
