We are currently seeking applicants for this new role on an exciting new vessel build.
The Technical Writer is responsible for collation, development and drafting of new manuals and work instructions and assisting in the development and planning aspects of documentation supporting the through life maintenance and support of the Patrol Boats. This includes but is not limited to operating instructions, maintenance work instructions, quality work instructions, work flow processes, procedures, policies and plans
Key responsibilities and areas:
•Research and develop new technical documentation for the vessels.
•Develop and document maintenance and operation manuals, specifications and technical descriptions.
•Develop and document work instructions, procedures and workflows, operating within Technical Regulatory Frameworks.
•Understand and follow referenced standards and statutory regulations to incorporate into developed documentation and processes.
•Understand and follow OEM maintenance and operational data.
•Understand Usage Upkeep Profiles and Maintenance Plans.
•Meeting milestones and deadlines as required by contractual Data Requirements and as otherwise directed by the Development Manager.
•Assisting other Development Team members to meet their deliverable requirements.
•Complying with the Quality Management System in the production of documentation and contractual deliverables.
•Maintaining appropriate communications within the Development Team and with other relevant stakeholders.
•Maintaining appropriate business records.
•Perform any additional duties as directed by the Development Manager within competency and skill level, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
•Comply with all Policies and Procedures, with particular reference to safety and environment matters.
Experience Required:
•Knowledge of documentation processes including quality assurance required to support operations and maintenance.
•Experience in accessing and interpreting data from OEMs, Standards and regulatory bodies.
•Experience in documenting technical, maintenance or engineering requirements, ideally in a marine environment.
•Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities / Personal Attributes:
•Ability to work within a small team assisting all team members to achieve collective goals.
•Able to explain or describe processes in a concise and professional manner.
•Advanced competencies in the MS Office suite of products especially including MS Word, Excel & Visio.
•Understanding of Technical Regulatory Frameworks.6
•Ability to write maintenance plans and various technical / system manuals.
•Sound oral communication skills.
•Ability to work unsupervised to deadlines and tight timeframes
