This is pretty telling of our society in general.
That an organization is prepared to pay off command and control training and responsibilities when executing a duty of care to the public is very, very bad.

That’s a hell of a statement and complaint from Sierra 3-1.

Knowing how the system works, he’s never likely to work in uniform again now that he’s raised serious issues about his chain of command.

I wish him all the best for he future, he’s a fracking brave man to blow the whistle like this.

I agree, he has clearly put himself in the internal spotlight of his organisation, but it seems like he wants the problem to be brought to light, imagine being in his position and feeling powerless at influencing change, especially due to it's outcome in his experience. Sierra 3-1 is fed up - over.

To be honest I doubt he has had the opportunity to work normally since the Lindt Cafe Siege occurred. The amount of hearings and enquires he and the rest of the team would have had to go through would be shit-house. Especially if he feels the way he does.

Amazing how many people around me just think he's having a cry about not getting to take a shot without knowing even the smallest detail of this situation.

Anyone have any further insight into this? All we've gotten is armchair cowboys on the new forums shouting "Hurr durr why couldn't of ya just shot him in the leg, go in Die Hard style mate!" Would be interesting to know more about this story!

Have you read the findings and recommendations from the inquiry?

Brotherhood never was like it;
Friendship is not the word;
But deep in that body of marching men
The soul of a nation stirred.

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
