I know there are two or three people among us that think they can leave school and join the ADF. While on Paper you can do this I think this is now very unlikely.

I had my Assessment Day just a couple of days ago and I was told I had to pass Grade 12 English or they will delay my entry and may even make me go to TAFE.

I am only going in as rifleman so doesn’t try to blow it off as a specialist possie. It says that you only need grade 10 Maths and English. So don't think you can leave school to join the ADF. OR
If you really have your heart set on it then stays in school until your assessment is done.

Sorry for starting a new thread on this probably already is a couple

Daniel

Don't be so quick to throw your life away mate. That's my advice. I joined at young 18, regret it.

I got in pending my end of year report. If I turn up to my swearing in and either my Maths or English is under a SA/C they said ill be turned around and told to go home.

I think this has something to do with now when you want to rise up through the ranks (further down the track) if you don't have those two subjects they make you do TAFE. (This is coming from my Interviewer, RAAF man). The point was also backed up by the Assessment Day Co-ordinator

And for Dallas I know that’s what they say on the pages of information but that’s just what I got told by 2 different recruiters. This is why I suggest still going through school while applying.

I've never seen the point in the people that drop out in year 10, 11, or 12.

You've put up with it for so many years, why not wait it out just a little bit longer and not waste the last decade.

Year 12 is definately worth having.

Why would the ADF make you do yr 12 if your I have the vocabulary of a bogan who dropped out in year 9 and the word I was looking for was "going to" come out with a UAI of 40 if you could have been learning job specific stuff in that time?

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
