this idea just popped into my head today. I was wondering how left handed people would perform in the military in terms of firing weapons and such.

Can leftie's get left handed weapons,eqiupment..... and how much would it affect their service in the military

The f88s are able to be fired by lefties all you do is switch the ejector port stopper over to the other side. note there is probably more to it but thats what my recruiter told me (might be internal changes but i'm unsure). i'm not sure bout the other weapons but i think lefties would be able to use most weapons.

The ejector claw which is attached to the bolt is changed for the lefties, M4 can be fired by either, no changes required

Yup, the F88 just has the cover put on the other side, and a different bolt. The F89 stays the same.

Apparently thru the ages, people invloved in miltary actions who were left handed teneded to have quiet an advantage. You see, most people are right handed and back in thr day of only hand to hand fighting , most people only trained to defend against a RH attacker so the lefties were able to use some move that the RH handn't seen before or knew how to pare.

But most of that goes out the window in todays military environment.

Oh, and I have heard that when it is night and all you can see is a muzzle flash most people will shoot at the right of the flash. Those shots should then miss a lefty.

I guess Im spastic, my master eye is the opposite of my hand-edness. I think I'd put the handgrip on the side rail so I can tilt the M4 (if I had an M4) and M203 in the normal spot...... then I might be able to see the scope/sights :???:

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
