I have my assessment day (after JOES day) coming up shortly. I wanted to ask about the medical assessment when you have to strip down to bra and undies and the Dr does his thing. It clearly states that the Dr will observe you doing push-ups and sit-ups.

Does anyone know how many your expected to do?.. This is not the ‘fitness assessment’ so I cant be turned down because I cant do 8 push-ups for the Dr will I?
:???:

I had to do 10 pushups and 10 situps at my first medical at DFR. I won't speculate as to what they're looking for when you do them, needless to say I "passed." Just do what they ask you.

I only had to do about two push ups and sit ups. You can do push ups either way.

I guess it varies for everyone, I never had to do any pushups or situps on my assessment day.

I believe it is to measure your blood pressure/heart rate.

Quote:
The pre Enlistment Fitness Assessment is a minimum of
15 Push-ups, 45 Sit-ups and to run at a level of 7.5 or 1120 m in 6min 30 sec once your are a member of the ADF the physical requirements are far greater
Medical and Physical Fitness

It wouldn't take an Einstein to work it out, if you don't pass the Pre enlistment Fitness Assessment then yes, you will be turned down until you work on your fitness and come back for round #2.

Did you receive or get the "Are you fit to join the Australian Defence Force" Brochure? on the back of the Brochure there is a 3 Step Guide to doing a Push-Up by ADF's standard.

If you don't, then visit this site, www.defencejobs.gov.au/crc

Preperation is key. The Australian Defence Force, your preperation is Fitness, the Fitter you are the easier it will be.

I'm more than welcome to be corrected.

Christ, can't even spell bicep. It is at the doctors own choice how many you do, it's just so he can run his tests and see if your not hiding any injuries. But if you spear in and smash your chin on the deck on your 4th pushup he will probally have somthing to say about that.

When are you going to pull your finger out and get some training in? You can't go from 8 pushups to 60 overnight.

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
