Just saw this one and got me wondering at what stage do you go from military enthusiast to danger to the community
This blokes collection is definitely excessive (in my opinion) and the authority’s obviously acted on some pertinent information

However there’s got to be defence members or even preppers with stashes that rival old mates
Guess it must have been some pretty damning information

He’s also a little bit of a knife enthusiast

It looks to me like he was about to start a stall at the next guns/militaria show - that gear looks like the kind of "random knives and shit" sellers you see at every gun show.

I was vaguely mates with Ian Read back in the 90s at Pucka who as the School of Armour Quiee and a "collector" gun-nut had 2-3 ISO containers of ADF weaponry and enough ammo and explosives to fill a magazine storehouse.
By comparison this guy's an amateur.

I must have a dozen books written by "famous snipers" along with about 300 other military books, am I a danger to society? 2000 rounds is bugger all for a bloke with multiple firearms in multiple calibres.

If he's got underlying mental health issues, unrelated to being a bit of a nerdy collector, that's fine, re-evaluate his ability to hold a firearms licence, but it's not illegal to buy knives, bows, arrows, guns, or books.

Shit random never even heard of Ian read that’s a stash and a half I wonder what his end goal was when the insurgents over ran us, I mean you can only fire one ‘shoulder mounted rocket’ at a time or was he going to arm other loyalists or like minded folk
Plus having mass shooting articles cut out isn’t a good look

It will be interesting to see the hard evidence in this case

As you say dig if owning military books is a no-no then most of my library is gone apart from some old les Norton books but seriously though when do you become a danger to the community I mean this blokes knife and arrow stock piles are a bit over kill but without knowing more about it I’d say my cousins in WA who are farmers are more of a danger to the community with the amount of guns and ammunition and load their own supplies they have

An interesting side note a few years ago at a brissy market was a stall with old books printed out in A4 and folded in half having a rummage I found a anachronist cook book style one considered buying it for two seconds until I remembered what happened to David Hicks and where he went on holiday to haha plus wouldn’t be a good look to have that material,
if this guy has stuff like that it all together wouldn’t be a great look

Oh, the media and most of the population would have kittens at most of my professional library.
Let alone my collection of toys.

And do you realize what’s really funny?
None of those nervous nelly’s would quibble at the really dangerous scientific text books which explain poisons, microbiological and chemical contaminants. With common household and industrial chemicals and materials, I am far more of a danger to society before I even get to the explosives recipes. Which by the way, the online ones don’t mention the professional equipment needed for temperature control required - tip for young players ;)

We live in a free society where providing we aren’t a demonstrated threat to society, then we shouldn’t have to justify much to anyone else.

Paying coin for the Anarchist Cookbook? :smt017

Not getting handed out Reproduction Section copies of AC, PMJB, and CiaBlackBooks on course as background reading.
Then making HMI/HME recipes at the Range... [:D

{ Mandatory safetyblah: Don't try this at home, kids. 90% of the unofficial books are either crap or miss out the safety checks. If you don't have the real Pams, its a short track to an own goal. }

22F mate the mind boggles at the kind of mad scientist literature and Knowledge you’d have at your disposal and knowledge is the real power right
Also just because I didn’t pay coin for it doesn’t mean I didn’t thumb through it thermite and knowing the chemicals you’re working with where the two points I remember
The first because it’s really simple
The second because the author stated the he had blown 3 fingers off on one had by hot mixing and got a reaction (had a bit of a laugh as there was some pretty xenophobic language in it and I mean who doesn’t want to hire a seven fingered, racist he’s kind of limiting he’s employability)

On another note all this has got me thinking of how our gov responds to this ’militant/danger to community’ type of persons and groups.
And how much different we are to the us I mean imagine how many people are employed by the FBI just to track there known civilian militias

Not saying our gov is too hardline at all I’d imagine they’d have all their ducks in a row
I mean the UK is a lot worse but I think management of similar stuff in USA would take the cake

I would've thought distrust and hatred of modern technology was a core element for anachronistic terrorists... ;)

Brotherhood never was like it;
Friendship is not the word;
But deep in that body of marching men
The soul of a nation stirred.

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
