Copeland tries defending the Tin they wear.
The ANZMI “Investigators” have once again shown their inept investigating skills and lack of facts toward the posting of another victim of cyber vilification. They seem so eager to demean veterans, to give themselves a pat on the back, high fives all around, and group hugs in an attempt to justify their illegal actions and attempt to destroy a veterans’ credibility.
The post on Steve Wright, former RAN who served in Somalia and an APPVA member is incorrect in context on the ANZMI so-called “Medal Cheats”. Where he has not, like many others on this pathetic site, broken any law or Legislation.
Steve is criticised for wearing a Peacekeeper “Tin” Medal. In fact, the SPIA Commemorative Medal for Peace [Bronze] in this instance was awarded to him at the UN Office in Geneva (UNOG), Switzerland in the course of an SPIA event. Therefore, under the “Guidelines” of Unofficial or Commemorative Medals that is the normal rhetoric used by ANZMI on these posts being the non-legal spiel on the itsanhonour site, he has done nothing wrong and broken no laws. He is in attendance of an SPIA event, where the photograph was taken in Geneva – not Australia. Fits the “Guidelines” in any case.
He did not pay for the medal, as it was awarded to him for his work as the Vice President SPIA Oceania. Nor did he pay thousands of dollars just to fly to Geneva to get it awarded to him. He had no idea he was going to receive it. He went to the UNOG to accompany me as part of the Australian/Oceania delegation to represent issues of interest [particularly mental health of peacekeepers], at an International Peacekeeper’s Conference.
In any case, Steve is not terrified of this matter, as he is [and was at the time the photo was taken] a French citizen and no longer resides in Australia. He is free to wear his medals with pride in France, without any undue or inappropriate scrutiny, from the ANZMI Medal Police, as he comes under French law. Steve is a proud APPVA and SPIA member and represents Australian Peacekeepers well in Europe.
Once again ANZMI, you have got it wrong. However, this doesn’t forgive the fact that those in ANZMI who were involved in having posted Steve and many others in their continuum of vilification and belittling veterans on their “Medal Cheats” & “Wannabe” sites are in breach of the Criminal Code 1995 Act [Cwlth], which is to harass, demean or cause offence [s474.17 applies].
Therefore, regardless what pathetic spin that the ANZMI “members” place on themselves to justify such vilification of others, they are breaking Commonwealth law, along with Defamation Law, not only in Australia, but overseas.
