How do both systems work?

I'm going in as OR, but it says that as an Officer your IMPS is 6 years, with a 2.5 year ROSO.

Do you add both together, making your total obligation to the Army 8.5 years?

Well you might be able to change trades while still in a ROSO, but it'd want to be to be a very understrength trade, from a full one for it to be approved by DOCM/SCMA.

Edit: For example, you've been in for 7 years as a grunt, and decide you've had enough of humping so do the dirty and go transport. The transfer will acquire a ROSO (after sucessfully completing IET's) which you must complete as a transporty, even though your IMPS and initial ROSO are both up.

One more question that's been bugging me:

Does your 6 year IMPS start from the day you begin RMC, or the day you graduate?

IF you read your job description on the ADF website, then you will know you are contractually in for 4 years as a rifleman.

Now a question for you.
Are you currently serving? Are you in the army? Are you a Rifleman? Are you in the process of transfering to SF? Have you passed or atempted the SFET?

I've read the website but that is, to my understanding the initial minimal service time, if i was to transfer i would still be serving, would i not?

No i am not currently in the army as i am in year 11 and considering to finish year 12 at age 18 then hopefully join straight away or what untill i'm 19 where i can then join SF

P.S i want to join SF ASAP and am wondering which road to take

Then how do they expect to gain numbers with the direct recruiting scheme, surely rifleman after employment will have more of an edge over a civilian as far as military procedures go.

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
