Hi I just booked in for specialist selection for the combat engineer job. I was wondering if it is too late now to change my preference for this job ( combat engineer is my 3rd preference) or can I ring up my case manager and change my preference for number 3 ? and might this ruin my chances of getting in if its a hassle for them to do so ? sorry if its already been a topic couldn't find it. Also if I do end up doing my specialist testing for combat engineer what does it involve ?

cheers

Absolutely.
Do not go into a job you're not 100% keen on, you will regret it in ways you can only begin to imagine.

It's been said before, but the best job in the army that you love more than anything else in this world, will make you question your life choices on a frighteningly frequent basis, one you aren't 100% keen on will be four years of misery.

Ring them up and tell them you're not interested in doing extra testing for your 3rd preference and that you'd rather just get interviewed for 2. In reality you probably only want to do your first preference anyway, so stick to your guns on that job.

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
