you get told to fill out some forms from your unit security officer. You'll then have to complete the security pack.

So I'm guessing it's SECRET? Forgive me, but I am just a tad curious. Guess I'll have to wait until the USO contacts me again.

Cheers, Skull :drinkers:

You are correct, you will need to be cleared to 'SECRET', all deployments require 'SECRET' regardless of trade.

There were delays with my security clearance (vetting level 1). I have to send it in and there is only 2 weeks until enlistment day! Does anyone know how long it will take to process my documents on the other end? Will it effect my enlistment date?

I have completed and sent back financial records and police check a while ago.

I don't think your clearance should affect your enlistment date. in fact it would happen all the time, so long as it's done by IET. That level of clearance can take up to 6 months as it is.

Don't worry about it, it won't affect your enlistment date at all. I have seen Pl staff not even hand the security pack into the correct authorities until a week before Kapooka march out. The whole clearance process is a shit fight. Even if you don't get cleared in time for your IET's, and you did everything right then its likely you will just get a provisional clearance anyway.

Secret, but you can do the trip on Restricted if you don't get it in time

I have received a letter of offer and now I am being told I require a waiver because I received a fine for driving an unregistered car in WA. This is the only offence I have had and it is up to the RAAF to give me a waiver. I am applying for ATC. Seeing as my enlistment is 2 weeks away and they applied for the the waiver 3 days ago, should I be worried? The recruitment agency have indicated they can mark it urgent but now I have left my previous job I am concerned for what I should do. Any experience people have getting waiver's would be appreciated :)

The soul of a nation stirred.

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
