Hi all,
I'm acting on behalf of our FM team. I'm Ex-UK RAF myself, serving for 26 years as a GSE technician. In 2011 I landed in Sydney and started looking for work. I got a job offer as a Technician in a Data Centre.
I for one had never heard of a Data Centre (DC) before...Have you? This is what Wikipedia says:
A data center is a facility used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems. It generally includes redundant or backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls (e.g., air conditioning, fire suppression) and various security devices. Large data centers are industrial scale operations using as much electricity as a small town
For the Electricians and Mechanics it is the resilient infrastructure that is of interest - there is lots of it and it needs skilled techs to maintain and monitor it. Anyone interested? My friend is the Site Manager working on behalf of the FM Contractor providing the support for Australia's largest Data Centre based just off the Sydney CBD. Currently he has an immediate requirement for 1 Electrician and 2 Mechanics. Air Conditioning and Dual Qualified Techs applicants would be most suitable but he will certainly look at those that aren't.
Ex - GSE/Ground Electricians (RAAF) - Ship Marine Techs (RAN) or Army equivalent would probably be most suitable.
As mentioned earlier, the requirement is immediate (next month), but it is likely that there will be the odd vacancy coming up as time goes on, so if you are heading for discharge in the coming months then reply or PM me.
Admins: I am trying to open this industry up for Service leavers. If I get some success then I'll ensure that the FM provider divvies up a donation.
