Thanks Ben, really appreciate you posting here. Some pretty impressive credentials with you guys there it seems.

Theres only one problem-I'm not ex serving. I'm a prospective recruit, and it seems off the website you only focus on those ex serving. Would you still be willing for me to register in that case?

Edit: Dig beat me to it

Disco and Dig,

We are very much aimed at helping those who are recently ex, in the process of separating or those ex Regs who have parked themselves in reserves. We also place people with other uniformed and non-uniformed Govt. experience.

There's not much of a focus on placing people who are on their way in. That being said if you have trade skills please register.

What we specialise in is helping employers understand Diggers and their skills. Too many recruitment businesses focus on molding and coaching ex Defence members to be more like civis in order to get a job. The companies we are working with are actually looking for ex Defence personalities so as a candidate you can just be yourself.

Dig - Not sure exactly what you're asking there (sorry we might be using different slang) but if it's about protected identity status yes we're used to accommodating that. That's why (apart from contact details) all fields on the registration form are optional.

----- and some news just in
I was speaking to a Melbourne Defence Technology company yesterday and it looks like we'll have up to 10 jobs for ex RAE coming up in the near future just with that one business. Current security clearance not 100% essential but desired.

If anyone fits that description and is interested please register.

Nope, you'll see your user name is black, mine is red, for admin, disco's is black, non serving, (or not yet serving or we don't know them well enough yet), all the people with green (and blue for moderators) user names are serving or ex serving (who we feel we know sufficiently well enough to give access to another part of the site).

Thanks for the reply Ben. I'm not trade qualified, but uni educated with lots of trade like skills but no formal quals.

Looks like I've found some work close to home. With a company who have a contract with one of the mines around here. They have an exploration program starting, and this company have been hired to do the landholder consultation, so they liked the fact that I have a geo degree and experience on exploration projects and can talk from experience. Only 2-3 months worth of work, but hoping it leads to more, and hoping enlistment wont be too far after then either if I can work out things at home

I really appreciate the help and advice everyeone has given. Been a real struggle to find something, a lot harder than I thought it would be

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
